Ethos, Beliefs, and Practices

THE BASICS

Adrian supports and celebrates members of the LGBTQIA+ community, Black and Indigenous voices, and sustainability in the wedding industry.

All preferred vendors do the same.

THE DETAILS

COMMUNITY

Adrian Steinbach Photography primarily exists and works on Wahpekute land and makes a monthly personal donation to Dakota Wicohan to support their effort to preserve the Minnesota Dakota language. Read more about the four bands of the Dakota here.

Adrian also sources a majority of client gifts from local and/or BIPOC merchants and donates to MN-based mutual aid funds (If you want a super quick and easy way to participate, feel free to pop over and gift something from this charity list from Southside Harm Reduction).

SUSTAINABILITY

Adrian works toward sustainability in the wedding industry by primarily purchasing gently used gear, reusing packaging materials, and printing on either hemp or recycled paper when possible. Adrian’s preferred photo printing company, Wooden Banana, ships all boxes plastic-free. When traveling for hiking elopements and other outdoor adventures, Adrian abides by LNT principles out of respect for the land and future generations. Adrian also commits 1% of revenue toward carbon removal projects via Stripe’s program with Frontier Climate.

HONESTY

Adrian practices honest editing by following the “2 Week Rule.” This means that if something will be fixed within two weeks, it may be edited out (zits, extremely obvious flyaways, a light scratch or bruise, etc), but things that are part of you will not be changed (scars, birthmarks, freckles, wrinkles, etc). Melanated skin will not be lightened and pale skin will not be darkened. Proper care will be taken with posing and lighting in order to help you look and feel your best - especially if you have sensitivities regarding certain aspects - but your appearance will not be airbrushed or otherwise altered.

Though Adrian takes pride in her fun and creative portraiture, you should always still end up recognizing yourself in the image. The biggest goal is for you to look like you.

“But Adrian! Does all of this need to be mentioned on a business website?

Maybe not! But you deserve to know who you’re working with, and to have total transparency from your wedding vendors. Weddings and elopements are incredibly personal days, and it’s important for you to get along with and trust the people you work with.
